In Styria, Michael Ferner has built up a large following, having exhibited for over 20 years at Galerie Lendl, the Haus der Kunst on Joanneumring in Graz. The artist’s humorous raven paintings – he runs his own gallery in Salzburg – are arguably among the best-known works in his oeuvre.
His hallmark is the lightness of his line. With a fine brush and black ink,
Michael Ferner weaves his humorous web in contemplative tranquillity. And captivates the viewer. To open them up to what really matters. Life becomes a joy; a smile turns into laughter, becoming the elixir of life.
For the exhibition at the Ratscher Landhaus, he is, of course, bringing a wide-ranging collection of paintings
centred on the theme of wine. From wine tastings to the ‘Südhangnestlern’ on the Krahpotetz. Cheerful paintings by a life-loving artist, inspired by ravens.

As part of a year-long permanent exhibition, the Ratscher Landhaus is transformed into a gallery that uniquely combines art and indulgence. From 11.00 am to 5.00 pm, during the hotel’s opening hours, impressive works of art invite you to linger, discover and experience.
But this isn’t just a place to look – it’s also a place to take something home! All the artworks on display are available for purchase, making them perfect mementos of special moments in South Styria. Every year, new works enrich our spaces and bring a fresh burst of inspiration to the hotel.

About the artist – Seppi Eder
Seppi Eder, born in Burgau, is a versatile artist and hairdresser. Following his carpentry apprenticeship and time working in his parents’ business, he completed a hairdressing apprenticeship from 1990 to 1992 and subsequently opened a hairdressing salon together with his wife Bettina. At the same time, he began his artistic career in 1992 and opened the Kunstgarten in Burgau in 2005. His works, including the sculpture ‘Die Welt steht Kopf’, combine technical skill with creative expression. Further information on his biography and his works can be found on his official website.

Heinz Gösswellner, an artist from Leoben who was born in Bruck/Mur in 1954, enjoys playing with bold colours and
prefers colourful paintings. He experiments with colour harmonies, various combinations of form and colour, as well as with objects, which he transforms into assemblages and collages.
He is self-taught, but regularly attends courses on painting techniques and drawing. His
motto is: “I follow my own path unwaveringly in the development of my pictorial compositions, with new ideas and styles emerging as I work”. Enthusiasm and passion, curiosity and the joy of creative work are what drive him.
Exhibitions:
CITYgallery VIENNA, Simon Mühle Trofaiach, the corridor gallery at the Leoben District Office, the old town hall in Leoben. Heinz E. Gößwellner is represented with one of his paintings in the international cultural project “SEE THE BIG PICTURE”. Since April 2021, he has been running a permanent gallery in the LCS Leoben shopping centre.

Letting images speak for themselves, so that the viewer
can follow their own train of thought.
This is the motto of the photographer who changed careers and now works in adult education. The subjects of her photographs span a wide range of her areas of interest, which are constantly evolving. Whether it’s street photography, which opens the door to unexpected encounters with people, or artistic compositions that involve imaginative interpretations of everyday forms, the resulting images are an expression of her personal perception.
The Graz-based photographer has drawn significant inspiration from her peers and developed her own style as a result. She is a member of the Grazer Knipserklub, a participant in the Weizer Fotostammtisch, and is also involved with the Freie Galerie in Graz.
Her photographs have been on display in national group and solo exhibitions for several years.
She has worked with her Sony Alpha R7 and her iPhone 16 Pro. Long exposures, reflections and superimpositions are techniques she employs in some of her images.

The world is turned upside down
Right in front of the entrance to our Ratscher Landhaus on the South Styrian Wineroad, a very special work of art welcomes you: the sculpture ‘The World is Upside Down’ by Seppi Eder. This impressive installation not only attracts curious glances, but also invites you to pause and reflect.
At first glance, the expressive figure appears surreal – a person seemingly balancing weightlessly on their head, whilst their feet reach up towards the sky. It symbolises a change of perspective, the unexpected, and reminds us how valuable it is to look at things differently for a change. This is precisely what a holiday in South Styria at the Hotel an der Weinstraße is designed to offer: new perspectives, inspiring impressions and moments of mindful experience.
