While in this country we can enjoy fresh, clean drinking water straight from the tap at any time, for many people around the world this is not so easy and certainly not a matter of course. At Ratscher Landhaus, we value our high-quality tap water and want to help at the same time.
Water is the basis of all life - and for us in Austria, clean drinking water is a matter of course, but also a very valuable commodity.
Water in Austria -
A gift that we should treasure.
Austria is one of the most water-rich countries in Europe. Our mountains, rivers and lakes provide high-quality drinking water that is subject to strict controls and can be enjoyed straight from the tap – a luxury that we often take for granted. While in many regions of the world water has to be painstakingly procured or purchased at great expense, in South Styria we can simply turn on the tap and enjoy pure water.
Our body is made up of around 60% water, and adequate hydration is essential for our health. Water keeps our circulation going, supports our metabolism, detoxifies the body and ensures fresh, healthy skin. It helps to increase concentration and prevent tiredness. Drinking enough makes you feel more vital and energised.
However, access to clean water is not as easy everywhere as it is here. That’s why we not only want to raise awareness of the importance of water with our initiative, but also help directly.
Every sip counts!
Support for families with sick children
In the Ratscher Landhaus, we want to do good with our water. We donate the money raised from the consumption of our revitalised tap water to the “Steirer mit Herz” association. This organisation supports families with seriously ill children who are in urgent need of support.
By consciously drinking our water, our guests help to ensure that affected families receive financial assistance – be it for medical treatment, aids or simply to relieve them of a little worry in difficult times.
Sustainability and social responsibility
Water not only stands for life, but also for sustainability and community. Our water comes from the region and is served without packaging or long transport routes – this saves energy and reduces plastic waste. At the same time, we want our contribution to send a sign of solidarity and support families who urgently need our help.
Doing good with every glass
Every sip of water is good for us – and can help someone else at the same time. Our wish is that our guests not only enjoy the high quality of our water, but also share the joy of doing good.
Clean water is a gift that we can use every day in Austria. Let’s work together to ensure that this gift also benefits others – a sip for your health, a sip for families in need.
Since 2019, we have been collecting 2.00 euros per carafe of chilled, revitalised water and donating the amount to the Steirer mit Herz association.

...a lot of joy and a lot of help
2019 – Support for Laura
We were able to help 16-year-old Laura from Eastern Styria with the “Water Money 2019”. She has lived with physical disabilities since birth. Thanks to our donation, she was able to receive a height-adjustable washbasin that makes her everyday life much easier.
2020 – A reading aid for Niklas
In 2020, we were able to hand over 3,500 euros. The amount was used to purchase a reading aid for 7-year-old Niklas. His visual acuity is only ten per cent, but with the new reading aid he can finally do his homework independently.
2021 – Wishes for a girl with cancer
In 2021, we were able to help a girl with cancer from Leutschach and support her in fulfilling her heart’s desires.
2022: Riding therapy for Lina
Lina, who suffers from motor and speech development delays as well as hypotonic muscles, was able to take part in regular riding therapy sessions thanks to your support. This valuable support has helped her to make important progress.
2023: Support for Fabian and his mum
Thanks to your help, we were able to support six-month-old Fabian and his family during a challenging time. Fabian’s mum in particular experienced noticeable physical and psychological relief by covering the costs of his overnight stay.
2024: A ray of hope in difficult times
We had the opportunity to support the S. family during a difficult phase by covering the costs of important therapy sessions for their daughter Sarah. In this way, we were able to give her some hope and relief.
2025: Help for 29-year-old David
David, who is dependent on regular therapy sessions due to a physical and mental impairment, needs our support. Together, we want to give him and his mum a helping hand to provide him with the best possible support.</p

Revitalised water using the Aqua-Vit method
At our hotel, you can enjoy revitalised water using the Aqua-Vit method – a natural and sustainable way of returning water to its original, powerful structure.
