Ice-cold refreshment for body and soul

Ice bathing is, as the name suggests, a bath in cold water - often ice-cold. But how cold does the water have to be to be called ice bathing? There doesn't have to be ice floating in the water for it to be a classic ice bath. It starts at 5 degrees Celsius and below. Many lovers of cold water prefer to bathe or swim in cold lakes surrounded by nature.

Ice bathing is good for you!

What does it do?

The data from many studies is clear: the cold strengthens the immune system, trains the cardiovascular system, converts (bad) white fat into (good) beige, has a stimulating effect on the mitochondria and lifts the mood.

The body can cope well with large temperature fluctuations, provided you always have a dry change of clothes with you.

Benefits for the soul

When you step into cold water, your blood vessels contract due to a natural biochemical reaction chain in your body. As the body struggles to survive in this situation, the warm blood collects inside you to protect your vital organs from the cold shock. Cooler blood circulates in your extremities, arms and legs. Your body reacts to the extreme cold by releasing endorphins, adrenaline and anti-inflammatory corticoids. This all helps to keep you in an alert and happy state, which can last for several hours. When you expose your body to such an extreme situation, there is no room for bad thoughts and discomfort. Your body is busy coping with the extreme cold stimulus and is focussed on peak physical performance.

Who shouldn't do it?

Before you start ice swimming, you should have yourself checked by a doctor and make sure that you are healthy and that your body can withstand extreme exertion.

Ice baths are not recommended under any circumstances for people with cardiovascular weakness or heart problems, as this can lead to cardiac arrest. Important: You should also never go ice bathing alone!

The cold revitalises, strengthens the immune system and gets the circulation going. A natural energy boost that refreshes body and mind and ensures pure vitality!
